At Tiliguerta, sailing represents enjoyment, whilst learning about and appreciating the natural elements of these places: the wind, waves, and even a gentle breeze. Understanding the changing climate and direction of the wind is not only fascinating, but allows you to appreciate the sea from another perspective.

The Tiliguerta Sailing School organises sailing courses at various levels for children on mini Hobie Cats and for adults on Lasers.

And for those wishing to experience the thrill of getting carried away by the wind, our instructors (who are all FIV certified) offer sailing excursions to the islands and inlets of one of the most beautiful stretches of the Mediterranean coast.

For Beginners (adults and children): six hours of theory and practice to learn the basics of correct sailing.

Day 1: 9am – meeting point at the beach for registration. This is followed by a short briefing for the organisation of working groups. At about 10am you will start to rig (assemble) and de-rig the sailing boat. Participants then take to the water for the swimming test and the rudiments of sailing terminology. At 12pm equipment is put away and a discussion on the day’s exercise follows.

Day 2: 9am – preparation of equipment and then the capsizing test (overturning the boat). An initial test is carried out on the beach to understand the exercise fully, before being carried out at sea. Boats can capsize, so it is preferable to know the correct manoeuvre to avoid unnecessary risks.

Day 3: 9am – a key lesson to learn basic manoeuvres for managing the sailing boat: luff – bear away, haul taut – slacken… As always, moves are first practised on the beach and then in the sea.

Day 4: 9am – the boats are rigged and then everyone goes to sea! The lesson provides an introduction to the points of sailing: reaching – hauling, no-go zone, veering.

Day 5: 9am – participants prepare the boats, this time without the help of the instructor who arrives at 10am to ensure everything is ready. If sea conditions permit, participants enter the water with their boards for the points of sailing and turning.

Day 6: Participants may now consider themselves sailors. 9am – to the shore to check the sea conditions and if suitable, proceed with rigging the equipment for final exercise. Trip or race with all participants.

Please note that course content may vary according to the needs and learning abilities of participants.

Tips: To avoid slipping, rubber shoes are recommended. In the use of nautical equipment, the use of any creams is prohibited due to being slippery. Please wear a T-shirt under your life jacket to protect your skin from sunburn.

…E’ nata, finalmente!
